Plan an outpatient visit
Before the appointment
Confirm the department, date, local time and arrival instructions. Bring the requested identification, relevant reports and a current medicine list. If you need an interpreter or help accessing the clinic, tell the team ahead of time so the available arrangements can be checked.
During your visit
Start by explaining the main concern and the questions you would like addressed. Let the clinician know about previous assessments and treatment. Additional tests may need a separate appointment or preparation, so ask how any recommended investigations will be arranged and whether they carry separate charges.
After your consultation
Make sure you understand the agreed next steps and how to obtain any results. Confirm whether a follow-up is needed and which clinician will review you. Keep copies of instructions, reports and receipts that you may need for ongoing care or insurance reimbursement.
