Explain the purpose and urgency
Describe whether this is a first consultation, follow-up or second opinion, and include the main medical concern. The team may request records before proposing an appointment. Symptoms that are severe or rapidly worsening should be assessed locally rather than waiting for a routine availability response.
Wait for the appointment details
Before finalising travel, obtain confirmation of the clinician, date, time, location and any preparation instructions. Check the applicable fee and rescheduling arrangements as well. If the requested doctor is unavailable, you can ask whether another appropriate clinician or date can be considered.
