Pediatrics
Prepare for a child-focused medical discussion that considers age, growth, development and the concerns of the child and their family.
Enquire about pediatric assessment
Share a useful child health history
Include your child’s age, the main concern, when it started and how it affects feeding, sleep, school or play. Growth records, vaccination history, allergies and current medicines can help the reviewing clinician. For infants, birth history and recent feeding information may also matter.
Prepare your child for the visit
Explain the visit using language suited to your child’s age and bring a familiar comfort item if helpful. A parent or legal guardian should clarify consent requirements beforehand. Ask whether any tests need preparation and whether a longer appointment or communication support is appropriate.
Confirm the right service and timing
Different pediatric concerns may require a general assessment or a particular specialty. Share existing reports before travel and confirm the relevant service and appointment arrangements with the coordinator. A child with serious breathing difficulty, unusual unresponsiveness or rapid deterioration needs urgent local medical assessment.
