Minimally Invasive Brain Repair for Cerebral Palsy

Patient Information:

  • Name: Master Ibrahim Yousuf
  • Diagnosis: Cerebral Palsy (CP)
  • Date of Birth: September 1, 2008
  • Gender: Male
  • Country: United Arab Emirates
  • Treatment: Stereotactic brain repair treatment, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), and physical therapy

History:
Master Ibrahim was a healthy child until he accidentally fell into a swimming pool at the age of one. After emergency intervention, he survived but remained in a prolonged coma and became dependent on mechanical ventilation despite having spontaneous respiratory efforts. He could not maintain adequate oxygen saturation without ventilator support.

Medical Condition Prior to Minimally Invasive Brain Surgery (Functional Stereotaxy) for Cerebral Palsy:
Upon admission, Master Ibrahim was in a minimally conscious state with occasional spontaneous smiles and mild congestion auscultated in both posterior lungs. Perspiration was evident only on his head and face.

Minimally Invasive Brain Surgery for Cerebral Palsy:
Following admission, the following medical protocols were implemented:

  • Stereotactic treatment to repair injured neural cells
  • Medical improvement of cerebral circulation, nutrition, and metabolism
  • Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) therapy
  • Rehabilitation therapy
  • Symptomatic and supportive care

Medical Condition after Minimally Invasive Brain Surgery for Cerebral Palsy:
Postoperatively, Master Ibrahim's condition has shown significant improvement:

  • Vital signs have normalized, with SO2 maintained between 95-98% without ventilator or oxygen support, except during deep sleep at night
  • He responds quickly to verbal stimuli, with eye movements and appropriate smiles; sometimes he responds to sounds and tends to follow them
  • Increased sensitivity to pain and touch
  • Improved head control in a sitting position, occasionally turning his head independently
  • Limb muscle tone improvement with more voluntary limb movements (primarily 'lifting' movements) noted in the left arm
  • Normalized body-wide perspiration pattern

His parents are highly satisfied with the treatment outcome. The staff at BPIH looks forward to receiving more positive updates about Master Ibrahim Yousuf's progress.
